Prospective Candidates
This program will build an individual’s resilience, optimism, communication abilities, negotiating abilities, questioning and probing skills, active listening, presentation skills, leadership, virtual meeting effectiveness, nonverbal communications, problem identification, solution development, goal setting, time management, new customer acquisition, stress management, customer/team trust and rapport building, mental flexibility, and achievement drive,
Qualified 1000 Youth applicates should possess these basic attributes to be accepted for consideration to join the 1000 Youth training program:
First and foremost, candidates to go through this program must be willing to commit to show up for all sessions, be determined to work hard, complete all assignments, and be open to change and grow.
Aged 18-40, desire to improve their life, average to good communication skills, a competitive spirit, empathy for others, enthusiastic personality, have confidence, resiliency, plus have a hunger to grow, learn and make money.
A candidate to join the 1000 Youth Business Incubator will be interviewed for acceptance within two weeks of application. Upon his/her acceptance you will be notified and a one- or two-person Mentorship Team will be established to help support your growth and skill enhancements.
Prospective Mentors
Mentors will utilize:
- Your talents
- Your network
- Your enthusiasm for life
- Your interest in developing youth’s speaking and listening skills
- Your Service Above Self philosophy
- Your knowledge and experiences
- Your resiliency abilities
- Your time, a minimum of one hour per week in mentee communications
- Your desire to build a better, more peaceful world, plus
- Your love and compassion for youth
You will make a true difference in one youth’s life!
Along with your own unique experiences and talents, you and your mentee will be provided with weekly inspirational messages and short videos. These will help condition your young individual(s) to “think like an entrepreneur” and become more productive, mentally stronger, and a hopeful, peace building “future community champion”.
Your weekly challenge will be to help them visualize a prosperous future, filled with love, support, abundance, happiness, and fulfillment. They will be challenged to learn a new way of thinking and to practice applying their newly acquired skills while working with their teammates at 1000 Youth. There will be obstacles they will face, new difficulties, and likely failure plus rejection. Your support and encouragement will be needed so they don’t give up when their self-confidence is low.
Mentors will help hold mentees accountable each week plus assist them with an ongoing professional development plan. As you help your mentee grow, change, fail, adapt, and achieve you will find your “best self” is growing and developing too!
Internship and Employment Opportunities
After a six-month period, 1000 Youth trainees that have gained employment at the 1000 Youth eCommerce Company will either be promoted, retained, or graduate out of the program. Those that don’t meet performance and Youth 1000 expectations, but want to sincerely contribute, will be offered another opportunity to go back through an accelerated program and curriculum. Expectations and specific performance improvements will be agreed upon with the mentee, their mentor, and the 1000 Youth leadership team prior to re-engagement.
Future Growth
1000 Youth, as it grows and is successful, will also offer their business development, accounting, sales, marketing, and customer service capabilities to other area small businesses. Since many small businesses are having difficulties in hiring the talent that they need to grow plus provide exceptional customer services and bookkeeping, our long-term goal will be that 1000 Youth graduates will become known as an exceptional source for talent. We will develop a pool of productive, achievement driven, creative, problem solving individuals possessing a sense of urgency that help communities grow and innovate.
How to Get Started – Action Steps for 1000 Youth Candidates and Mentors
- Complete the 1000 Youth Interest Sheet and check all interests that apply.
- Complete and submit the 1000 Youth Candidate Application
- Sign-up to be a Mentor and attend a Mentor Training Session.
- Consider buying products and services on our Ecommerce site. All profits from 1000Youth sales will support your student candidate plus potentially provide some income to him or her!
- Talk to other companies you know and ask them to shop at our Ecommerce site linked above.
As revenues grow and we build successful graduates of 1000 Youth, we will discuss establishing a 1000 Youth Incubator Hub in other communities!
